Which Les Mills workout should you do?
The cool thing about streaming is you have options! You can literally try one workout of each, use one of their provided schedules, or mix-and-match.
Tip: You just don’t want to do a strength training workout right next to another strength workout.
With that said, they have some great workout calendars you can use.
Plus – as you get used to the workouts, you can create your own schedule.
I’m currently doing this schedule.

Les Mills on Demand Mini Schedule
- Monday: BODYPUMP
- Tuesday: BODYCOMBAT
- Wednesday: BODYFLOW
- Thursday: CXWORX
- Friday: BODYCOMBAT
Of course, there are other programs you could do or mix in, but those are my favorites! I just choose one from the program that suits my schedule each day since they range from 15-60 minutes typically. (GRIT are all about 30 minutes!)

What equipment is required for Les Mills Workouts?
Since you’ll have access to several programs, the equipment you’ll need will vary.
Many of the workouts require no equipment.
Although, I am really glad I have a barbell and plates which are both sold on their website as well.

You’ll use their barbell and/or plates in:
- BodyPump
- CX Worx
- Grit
- Body Step
- Barre
You may also need a step, bands, or yoga mat for some of the workout programs.
There are plenty to do without any equipment though!

How Much Does Les Mills on Demand Cost?
You can grab a free trial here, and after that it’s $12.99 (US dollars) each month. It’s also pretty easy to cancel and there are no long-term commitments.
Also, you can also save a little by buying the yearly membership at $139.

How long are Les Mills classes?
Each program and class varies. You can find classes as short as 10 minutes to hour long workouts.
You can also pick and choose a few shorter ones to create your own perfect workout.
Are Les Mills classes effective?
Absolutely! Les Mills classes have been around since 1968, and Body Pump has been around since 1990. Their workouts continue to be sought out all over the world!
Plus, they offer such variety now too! You can choose to kick-box, lift weights, practice yoga, practice your Barre skills, or dance your way to feeling your best – right in your own home.

Is there a modifier?
While some of the moves can be modified, there really isn’t a good modifier in any of the workouts I’ve tried so far.
They do offer videos on how to do the workouts and moves, but I do wish they also had included a modifier in the actual workouts.
One thing that helps me with a new program is to watch it before I do it, but I know that’s not always something fun that you want to do.

Can You Download Les Mills Workouts on Demand?
Yes! You can download Les Mills workouts to your Android or iOS device. This way you can access them even when you don’t have Internet. You can keep them as downloads for up to 2 weeks on the app.
Pros of Les Mills on Demand
I love the variety of the workout programs available!
Unlike other streaming services, you have everything from yoga and barre to cycling and strength training. Plus, you have multiple classes of each program. You’ll never get bored.
You don’t need a huge budget or a ton of equipment!
Our upstairs is being redone, so I’ve been working out in a tiny room and have my barbell and plates tucked under our bar stools. No excuses!

High Quality, Effective Workouts
It’s also nice to know you’re following a tried-and-true workout every time you hit play. You’ll also find you have favorite trainers that motivate you! I love Dan & Rach from BODYCOMBAT.
Downloadable Option
I love that you can save workouts up to 14 days and access them whenever you want!
Multiple Lengths & Remix Options
You can click on any program or choose “Short Workouts” to find a workout that is the perfect length for you.
They’ve also included mash-ups of popular programs and “Remixes” of different classes of the same workout program which add to the variety and convenience.

Yoga Instruction
The yoga instruction and set-up is one of the best I’ve seen! It’s not cheesy at all. I also haven’t had to stare up at the screen mid flow or move because the instructors’ cue so well!
Cons of Les Mills on Demand
No One Program Calendars
I’m so used to getting an at-home workout program and knowing exactly which workout to do. Les Mills on Demand is sorted by program, but then the titles are like “BODYCOMBAT 63”.
I wish they had calendars using just 1 or 2 programs that complemented each other.

Proper Form Isn’t Always Addressed
It’s important to say “always” here because sometimes they are great about mentioning proper form during workouts.
With that said, some programs are expecting you to know what you’re doing going into it. Of course the how-to videos can help, but I do wish reminders were dropped in more often through the workouts to watch your form.
I noticed it being more of a problem in the BODYATTACK and GRIT classes which in all fairness are pretty advanced.
If You Don’t Like a Trainer – Tough
Okay – so there is one trainer that I can’t stand. I won’t say who, but dangit – he or she is in every workout of a certain program (or it feels like it). There isn’t anything wrong with his or her technique; I just don’t click with him or her.
Since the trainers alternate leading a class, you don’t have to deal with someone you don’t jive with long, but it’s also hard to avoid him or her completely as well.

Where is Les Mills on Demand Available?
Les Mills on Demand is available in the US, UK, Spain, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway, Estonia, Poland, New Zealand, Australia, Singapore and India. They’re also looking to expand into more countries.

No – Les Mills workouts are not available on DVD. Your only at-home option is to stream them, but I really think you’ll like it. It’s so simple to use!

How do I stream LES MILLS On Demand on my TV?

Tips for Using Les Mills on Demand
- Don’t be afraid to use the “Learn the Basics” schedule and how-to videos. They will help you get the most out of your workouts!
- The same idea applies to the warm-up or cool down. You should always do them both!
- You’ll need about 6ft or so to workout with most of these workouts.
- If you’re doing BODYSTEP you may want to have a towel close by to wipe your step of any sweat.
- Make sure to also follow a healthy diet in order to get max results.
- Download the app versus watching it on your computer if at all possible. The sound and picture seem better, and it’s easier to use in my opinion.

- The “My List” feature is great for planning your workouts or marking your favorites. A lot of the individual workouts have a similar name (which kind of stinks!) so the list can be super helpful!
- Choose a calendar to follow to help you stay accountable and try out new workouts.
- Keep in mind a lot of these workouts are intermediate to advance. You should always go at your own pace and modify when you need to.
- Les Mills Grit workouts are freaking insane so just be careful and know your limits. I love my Apple watch because it tracks my heart rate too!
- Plug into the forums and Facebook group for additional support!
- Start with a realistic number of workouts per week and maybe some of the shorter classes first. You can always add on from there!

Can’t decide if Les Mills on Demand is right for you?
I would totally recommend trying it and seeing what you think. There are, of course, some workouts I’ll never touch like the cycling ones, but there are still 100s for me to pick from!
I would try 1 workout per day to see what you like, and remember – don’t do strength days back to back.
