That’s why I pick a month to get the house organized!
If you’re like me and want to declutter this year, you’re going to love these quick and inexpensive hacks to get more organized!
Before I jump into our favorite finds for home organization hacks, I wanted to share my game-plan for decluttering because it can get overwhelming!
If you’ve not “tidied” before, you should be warned that it will look worse before it looks better.
The reason is because you’re going to need to pull out things to see what you want to keep, donate, and throw away. I promise it will look so much better in the end though! Stick with it and channel your inner Marie Kondo!

Tips to Start Your Own Best Home Organization
1. Start Small
We recommend starting with one small project to get you started! Seeing a cabinet, closet, or room transform will help motivate you to keep going.
With that said, you should start with one project at a time. Otherwise you might end up with a mess throughout the house and feel emotionally drained!
2. Have a Plan
I’d recommend prioritizing the areas you want to get organized on one sheet of paper. Then plan to work from them an hour or so a day until you get the full list done.
This way you aren’t killing yourself to do it all at once or running out of time or energy before finishing.
3. Have 3 Piles: Keep, Donate, and Throw Away
As you get started be prepared to part ways with some of your items. As Marie Kondo says, if the item doesn’t bring you joy, it has to go.
Another good rule is if you haven’t used or worn the item in 2 years, it’s time to donate or toss it.
Another thing that has helped us with clutter is to have a “One In, One Out” rule in our house. That means if you get something new, you have to donate an item that is the same. For example, if I get a new sweater, I need to donate an old one.
This rule keeps organizing easier through the year!
4. Use Your Space Wisely
We love the draw organizers, hooks, and shelf risers to save space! If you can add a shelf or buy a product with a shelf like this one, it can help you utilize more space in your cabinets too!

- Kitchen Utensils (We love that it’s expandable!)
- Delicates
- T-shirts and Clothing
- Makeup (or try a pretty Makeup Stack!)
- Jewelry
5. Utilize Movement
Storage bins with wheels or using a Lazy Susan in your pantry can help you not only save room but make your items more convenient to get to!
Bonus tip: I also like to buy storage bins in bulk that way they all match and stack well!
6. Have an Empty Shelf
As I organize, I like to have either an empty shelf or 1/3 of the area open. Not only does it look pretty and boost my mood, it leaves room to grow and add items in the future.
7. Ask yourself, “Is this easy for me to get to when I need it?”
As you implement these home organization tips, you may find yourself tempted to put everything in a spot.
And that’s great.
But remember – you need to make the items you use the most easy to access!
