We’ve found 4 money saving apps that pay you to shop that are user-friendly and safe! We share our favorite grocery and cashback apps!
The coolest part? You can use these apps alongside sales most of the time!
Isn’t it crazy how hard money can be to earn, and how quickly & easily you can spend it when you’re not keeping track? We’ve been there, as I’m certain we all have. But the good news? There are actually real tried and true money-saving apps out there that actually do work.
Not only are they easy to download and simple to use, but they literally help you save money every time that you open them.
It’s been a real game-changer to use them, and I can’t believe how simple it is as well. To think that all I have to do to save money is open up an app is really awesome.
I don’t even want to think about how much money I’ve just left on the table because I didn’t know beforehand about these apps.
Why not start off the new year and get signed up for some of these amazing money-saving apps?
It’s a great way to ensure that you stay on a budget all while taking charge of your finances at the same time!
How Do Money Savings Apps Work?
This is the cool part. These apps are actually pretty “smart” as well.
Since they’re downloaded to your phone, they start to learn what you shop for and what you’re searching for.
After a while, you’ll notice that some of them might even start offering you discounts on food items, etc. that you consistently buy.
This is just one of the cool ways that savings apps work and are a lot more advanced than just cutting coupons.
How Are Money Saving Apps Better Than Coupons?
I’m not saying that one is better than the other necessarily, but I feel that apps are a lot more convenient than coupons.
I’ve tried the coupon thing….a lot. But every single time I head out the door and arrive at the store, I’ve left the coupons at home on my table or have no idea where they went.
Plus, I really hate spending my time cutting out coupons. I know it’s an important step, but I just find it tedious.
What I love about apps is that once you download them on your phone, they’re easy to access anywhere!
And if we can all be honest with one another….rarely do we leave our home and not have our phones with us, right?
Another great feature about apps that I love is that they offer cash back a lot of times in various ways.
Maybe you’ll get an extra discount code here and there for bigger savings, or even an offer for a buy one get one special sale, but there are actually a lot of money-saving apps that give you back a percentage of your order, too.
It’s like you’re getting paid for shopping and who doesn’t love that?!
Now that you know a little bit about apps that can help you save money, let’s dive in and see which ones we really love to use!

All of these apps are also free to use!
1. Rakuten
Even if there are questions about how to pronounce the name of this savings app, I can assure you that it’s a good one!
Rakuten was formerly known as Ebates, and it’s probably the best cash-back app we use!
For every purchase that you make through their online merchants, you can earn some serious cash back!
Amazon currently is at 8% cashback (will vary daily) so this is a super simple way to earn some money back easily, especially with holiday shopping going on.

2. Ibotta
Ibotta is probably one of the more popular apps that people use as well because it’s just so friendly and simple.
You literally earn rebates and cash back when you shop at one of their hundreds (maybe even thousands) of online stores.
They also have some great in-store rebates at places like Publix, Kroger, Ralphs, PetSmart and more! You just clip the rebate and upload your receipt to save money!
As your earnings start adding up, they give you the option to cash out or accept it in the form of a gift card, so the user experience for this app is really great as well.
There is no fee to sign up and once you download it, you’re ready to start using it immediately.

3. Local Grocery Apps
Don’t forget about your local grocery stores as well! Everyone has to go food shopping, right?
So it’s no surprise that even the grocery stores are now coming out with their own budget apps as well.
Some of my favorite stores like Publix, Kroger, and Target have their own apps, and I find myself using them all the time.
They’re easy to navigate, and I get extra “digital coupons” that I don’t have to worry about printing.
It makes it super simple to get a discount on my weekly household groceries this way.
4. Honey
This is one of the best money-back apps ever.
Honey actually takes the item that you’re going to purchase online and checks out dozens of other online stores to make certain that you can’t get it cheaper anywhere else. It literally does all the searching and the hard work for you to give you the best price.
