We’ve all had a friend dabble in network marketing, but what makes the difference between someone struggling and the person that makes thousands of dollars a week in the same company?
99.9% of the time its mindset.
The person successful in network marketing treats it as their own business. They are more likely to focus on the long term versus how much money they can make in the first 1-3 months.
Over the years, network marketing has gotten a bad rap for being a “get rich quick scheme.” If you know anyone making 6+ figures in network marketing, you know it’s anything but. It’s a lot of work.
Even Dave Ramsey, the financial pro, says in Entreleadership that network marketing is a good opportunity but expect to work a lot and have a high turnover of reps because not everyone will commit to it like you will. The reason this happens is because people don’t know these 5 ways to be successful, but luckily you only need a few people really committing to growing to see it take off!
There are a few simple habits that every successful network marketer shares in common, and now we’re providing them to you!
5 Simple Ways to Double Your Succes in Network Marketing
1. Be Consistent
Remember that successful people in network marketing treat it as a business. Any business takes consistency. You must commit to learning, growing your network, nurturing relationships, and helping others continue to hit their own goals in their business to succeed.
Being your own boss doesn’t mean you have the EASIST & BEST boss in the world. It means you have to manage your time like a CEO would.
You’ll want to plan out your “working hours” – including time to work your own business and help others do the same. For example, everyday I use my companies products, grow my network, and nurture friendships with current prospects, clients and other reps on my team. My calendar is more outlined than any one of my peers – stocked with events, calls, and a breakdown of my working and relaxing hours.
2. Don’t Reinvent the Wheel
Focus on consistency versus making everything your way or perfect.
Consistency is a challenge, but if you’re joining a good team or upline in network marketing they’ll provide training and a plan for you to follow.
It’s so tempting to recreate the wheel and go “your own way.” It’s a time-suck though! For the first 6-9 months, trust your upline sponsor and their training. It will pay off. They are successful for a reason, and they are sharing exactly what they do with you because they want you to be successful too. Trust the process, and then after you’ve have gotten results building your own team you can tweak the training and plan as you want.
3. Invest in Yourself to Invest in Others
Brian Tracy and Darren Hardy, two of the top professionals in personal development, suggest budgeting 10% of your income for personal development. This sounds like a lot after you pay taxes and your normal expenses, but it pays off in 10-fold.
Investing in your own personal growth will help you be a better person and leader. Say you are about a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10 on leading others. You’re going to attract people that are a 2-3 on the same scale. Those people would be considered “weak leaders” on the scale. If you keep growing, you’ll get to be a 7 and start attracting 5’s like where you were. The more you can grow as a leader, the more people you will attract. Plus, you’ll know how to inspire and help them better with your new skills.
4. Focus On Your Ideal Client
It’s so easy to focus on your own income or rank goals, but successful people in network marketing focus on their ideal client’s needs and how to help them.
Your ideal client is someone that you would love to work with everyday (get tips on identifying your ideal client here). Successful people know what demographics, needs, and problems their ideal clients have, and they focus on how they can add value to those people’s lives. One way to connect with your ideal client is social media or blogging.
By doing this, you’ll come off as helpful and someone that others want to be around. You aren’t going to come off as salesy or desperately trying to hit a goal. In contrast, you’re going to be the person people come to for your expertise and who they refer their friends to!
By focusing on your ideal client, you’re going to build trust and also create products and services your ideal client will already be sold on before you even mention it!
5. Follow Up
It takes 7 exposures before someone purchases on average. People are watching what you are doing on social media, in person, and anything else relating to your brand for some of those exposures. Then, you might invite them to an event for another exposure. It isn’t until the 7th exposure that they sign up though. That’s why it is key to follow up.
It also shows you care; it’s not going to come off as high pressure. Taking the time to follow up with someone that has not purchased something or signed up with you yet shows you care about them versus just a sale. We suggest following up at least 2 times spacing them out 1-3 days apart.
BONUS TIP: Fight Fear
Success people in network marketing fight their fears and insecurities every day. It’s going to take getting out of your comfort zone to hit crazy cool goals. No one gets to be a 6+ figure earner by just settling into network marketing. They are doing things that make them a little uncomfortable everyday, staying consistent, and investing in themselves to be even better tomorrow.
