How To Make Turkey Meatballs
You’ll just need 6 or 7 simple ingredients for this recipe!
They are:
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1 large egg
- 1β4 cup avocado oil
- 3 Tablespoons nutritional yeast
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- salt and pepper
- 2 Tablespoons fresh rosemary (optional)
Now, the directions are super simple.
You want to mix all of that together.
Then form the mixture into 1″ balls and place in a skillet over medium-high heat turning them after 5 minutes to cook evenly.
You could also choose to bake them instead. You’d just want to bake them approximately 25 minutes and have the oven set to 350 degrees.
We usually turn ours over about mid-way through so they cook evenly.
Is Bragg’s nutritional yeast Paleo?
This recipe does call for nutritional yeast, but most nutritional yeast (including Bragg’s) is vegetarian, gluten-free, and paleo-friendly.
Are turkey meatballs healthy?
We consider them healthy because they offer a lean source of protein compared to beef or pork.
Why do turkey meatballs sometimes end up dry?
Sometimes turkey meatballs can be a bit dry, but we’re here to help you create juicy balls (hehe).
One reason they may end up dry is because they baked too long. Make sure to keep an eye on them as you bake or cook them in a skillet to prevent over-cooking.
Another reason meatballs can end up dry is that they don’t call for an egg. Using an egg in this recipe helps the ingredients stick together and offers a great taste and texture!
Our last tip for not having dry meatballs is to make sure you use a higher fat turkey. We like a 90/10 or 80/20 variety versus a 99% fat free turkey. The fat (even when you drain a lot of it) will offer moisture to the recipe.
