What You’ll Need to Make This Homemade Pistachio Ice Cream Recipe
- 2.5 cups heavy whipping cream
- 1 – 10oz can sweetened condensed milk, to taste (optional)
- 1 – 3oz package pistachio pudding mix
- 1/2 cup crushed pistachios
Why sweetened condensed milk?
The sweetened condensed milk adds sweetness and creaminess to the ice cream. If you prefer a less sweet ice cream, skip the sweetened condensed milk.
How to Make It Homemade Pistachio Ice Cream
- Mix the heavy whipping cream in a large bowl using an electric mixer for 4-6 minutes, until soft peaks form.
- If you’ve chosen to add in the sweetened condensed milk, gently stir it into the whipping cream.
- Gently mix in the pistachio pudding powder until no dry patches remain, being careful not to over-mix.
- Fold in the pistachios and then pour the mixture out into a clean loaf pan.
- Freeze for 3 hours or overnight.
