The best romantic movies of all time for an epic movie night! We’ve included the classic chick flicks, rom coms, and must-see romantic comedies!
If you’re like us, you’re a sucker for a great romantic movie or rom-com! There is nothing better than getting a pizza, bottle of wine, and enjoying a classic love story with your girl friends!
We’ve noticed that it’s getting harder and harder to find a well-made, well-written romantic movie though.
It seems like every new “romance” has a death or illness as the main story, and while you’ll see a few of those on our list, we do like a variety. I mean, not every night is a sob-fest night, and Nicholas Sparks can sometimes shove it where the sun don’t shine in our books (I mean – how dare you with #11’s ending!!!)
We hope you’ll enjoy watching and sharing your opinions about all of these movies!
We actually put together a FREE Romantic Movies Checklist that you can print and play along….because we also know what’s it’s like trying to pick a movie out.
Sometimes you’re mind just blanks and you end up watching Die Hard with your husband again.
Now you’ll have a list of movies you want to see at your finger tips!

Romantic Movie Listeners Loved (But We haven’t Seen).
When we were putting this list together, we asked our friends and podcast listeners what their favorite romantic movies were.
We haven’t seen these 3, but they were suggested more than once!
- Bed of Roses
- Notting Hill
- Wicker Park (though after seeing the cover, we may just go with Just Like Heaven again – it’s good!)
Honorable Mentions
When we asked around, these 3 movies popped up often as well.
The reason we ranked them only as honorable mentions is because we’ve seen them, and they’re not our favorites.
With that said, they aren’t as bad as Runaway Bride.

The 5 Romantic Movies We Absolutely Hate
We know this will be controversial.
And we’re okay with that.
We absolutely can’t stand how stalker-ish Ryan Gosling is, how a woman tries to steal someone’s fiancĆ©, or just how depressing the last two movies are.
Sorry, not sorry — here are the 5 romantic movies to avoid:
We couldn’t even say they fell into just kind-of-duds like Maid in Manhattan. They left us feeling angry after wasting 1-2 hours on them.
Do you agree with our list? What are your favorite romantic movies?

Came here from the pin because I was so curious about the 5 you DON’T recommend! Totally agree about Something Borrowed! The message of that movie is awful. But I will admit to loving the notebook š
Kalee Dillard says
Yes!! We’re always so glad to meet someone who also thought it was awful!! LOL! We know we’re in the minority with The Notebook, too. I even tried reading the book to like it, but I just couldn’t do it! lol!
Nicole says
Perfect for Valentineās Day binge watching! š
Natalie says
Iām not really a romantic movie kind of girl but I will watch those that are highly recommended. Iāll definitely have a go at some of these.
Elisa says
It’s such a long time I don’t watch a romantic movie… But I did love message in a bottle!
Corinne says
I agree with much of the movies on the list. I like any rom-com with Sandra Bullock in it. I recommend The proposal to anyone who wants to ROFL.
Makeup Muddle says
Ah thanks so much for sharing these, I was looking for some new movies to watch this weekend xo
Harriet Specter says
I felt the same about the notebook! My friends all love it but I thought it was a huge waste of 2 hours. I actually loved my best friendās wedding even though it didnāt end the way Iād wanted, I guess Iām just a sucker for Julia Robertsā movies (Pretty Woman is my all time fave!!!)
Kalee Dillard says
Oh ya — Pretty Woman is romantic comedy GOLD!! She’s so amazing!! š If you haven’t seen Notting Hill it’s another good one of hers! š
