We’ve found the best keto chocolate chip cookies! They’re warm and gooey on the inside and light and crisp on the outside! The best part? They’re one of the easiest low carb desserts to make! You can throw them together in 1 bowl in just 10 minutes!
Finding keto-friendly recipes to satisfy a sweet tooth can be a challenge! Especially when you’re the type of girls that have been known to grab Pillsbury’s break-and-bake cookies and eat just as much dough as actually making cookies.
Let’s just say — we’re pretty into our sweets.
So whether you’re on a low carb or keto diet or not, you are going to love these cookies! We used almond flour and powdered erythritol to keep them lower in carbs, but they’re just as good as the original!
Can you eat cookies on keto diet?
Typically, cookies are going to have too many carbs to have on a keto diet. Just having one regular cookie could knock you out of ketosis; however, you can have low carb cookies! We swap sugar out for erythritol and use almond flour to lower the carbs in our cookie recipes.
Keto Cookies With Almond Flour
You’ll see people make keto cookies with almond flour or coconut flour. Both are lower carb than your traditional white or whole wheat flours. We often use almond flour because it typically offers a better consistency over coconut flour.
While both low carb flours used to be hard to find at the grocery, we now have seen both at Publix. We also order almond and coconut flour off Amazon!
You can also make your own almond flour — but we’re not really into doing all that….just give me the cookie ingredients and let’s go!
Finding the Right Almond Flour
We recommend using a blanched, finely ground almond flour. This gives you a better consistency for keto cookies than the course almond meal or natural almond flour.
Go Slow
You want to add in the almond flour slowly. Also, be careful not to over beat the dough or your cookies could come out more dense than you want.
Where Can I Find Sugar-Free Chocolate Chips?
I feel like our answer to finding anything is either Google or Amazon.
We love Lily’s sugar-free chocolate chips which we get off Amazon. If you don’t have access to those, you can always use 90% Lindt Chocolate or 100% Bakers chocolate. Hershey’s also has a sugar-free option.
Tips on Making the Perfect Keto Chocolate Chip Cookies
These keto chocolate chip cookies are super simple to make! With that said, we wanted to offer a few tips to making them even more delicious!
Use 1 Bowl
Yup! You just dump all of the dry ingredients in first and mix it well. Then add in your wet ingredients.
Use a Cookie Scoop
A cookie scoop is super affordable and allows you to make the same size cookie each time! This not only helps when it comes to nutritional information, but it also helps the cookies cook evenly.
How to Know They’re Done
These cookies should be brown on the bottom and a golden on top. We bake them for 10-12 minutes.
Can You Freeze Keto Chocolate Chip Cookies?
Absolutely! You can freeze them in a freezer safe container or bag after they cool.
A Nutrition Note
You’ll need to subtract the powdered erythritol and the erythritol found in Lilly’s sugar free chocolate chips, as well as, the fiber to get an accurate carb count.
What You’ll Need to Make Keto Chocolate Chip Cookies
- 1 cup finely ground almond flour
- 1/4 cup Lilly’s sugar free chocolate chips
- 2 tbsp powdered erythritol
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/8 tsp baking soda
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1-2 Tablespoons almond milk (optional)
How to Make Your Cookies
First, you’ll preheat your oven to 325 F.
Then, in a large bowl stir in dry ingredients and mix them well. This will help you from getting a clump of baking soda in your batter.
Then, add in your wet ingredients and mix well.
Now you’re ready to use your cookie scoop or tablespoon to drop the cookies on a cookie tray.
Next, bake the cookies on the center rack 10-12 minutes.
Let cool an additional 10 minutes before handling as they are very delicate at first but firm up completely once cool.
