What is BODYFLOW?
LES MILLS On Demand BODYFLOW is their intermediate to advanced flow workout. It combines yoga, Tai Chi, and pilates into its routines to help with strength, flexibility, and balance all within one routine.
You may have heard it called BODYBALANCE outside of the United States as well. It’s the same workouts.
What to Expect in a BODYFLOW Routine
First off – you shouldn’t expect an easy workout. I know some of these low-impact workouts seem like they’d be easy, but BODYFLOW is an intermediate to advanced workout. It’s definitely a challenge!
While each class is different, you can expect:
- To start with Tai Chi
- Lots of sun salutations from Yoga
- Standing poses to build balance and strength
- Hip opening moves like downward dog split
- Core work like planks and supermans
- Twists and back bends
- Savasana to end class
- Great music throughout class
BODYFLOW Benefits
We all know staying active can help us feel and look our best, but BODYFLOW’s benefits go beyond just that!
The Dove Press found BODYFLOW help improve participants balance and functional performance in 3 months, and another study showed the workouts help reduce anxiety and build core strength.
In such a fast paced world, BODYFLOW allows you to refocus and challenge yourself in a new way.
Other LES MILLS On Demand BODYFLOW Benefits are:
- Reduces stress
- Improves posture and balance
- Helps mental clarity and focus
- Offers a meditation-like time to recenter yourself
Is BODYFLOW a good workout?
Absolutely! As I mentioned above, it isn’t an easy workout.
To be 100% honest – I was quite humbled during my first routine.
I’m not a yoga or pilates pro by any means, but I have done a class here & there. BODYFLOW is an intermediate to advanced class so make sure to take it slow and know your own pace.
With that said, it’s a great workout for experienced exercisers and allows you to build up to the full flow.
Who will love BODYFLOW at home?
- Someone looking for an intense yoga, pilates, and Tai Chi routine at home.
- Men and women looking to improve core strength, balance, and/or flexibility.
- Someone looking to cross-train in a new way.
- Anyone wanting a gym-quality workout at home
- Men and women wanting a total body workout in under an hour

How many calories do you burn in BODYFLOW?
LES MILLS suggests focusing on your core, join mobility, and mindset during a BODYFLOW class versus calories burned.
But if you’re looking to know how many calories you burn, I burned about 200-225 calories in an hour long class.
If you’re looking for a bigger calorie burn, check out our LES MILLS On Demand GRIT Review or BODYCOMBAT Review.

What equipment do you need?
The only thing you need is a yoga mat!
Is it a total body workout?
BODYFLOW is absolutely a total body workout! You’ll be using not only your lower and upper body, but you’re also going to work your core and stabilizing muscles!
How much yoga experience do you need?
I’d say you’d need to know basic poses like plank, downward dog, warrior, and side angle. I think it’s helpful if you’ve had some experience with yoga and pilates in the past as well. It’s definitely not a beginner’s class.
Is there a modifier?
No modifier is offered in BODYFLOW. They sometimes will show a way to adapt a move, but there isn’t a designated modifier.
How many times a week can I do LES MILLS BODYFLOW?
We like to do a class 1-2x a week, but you can always include them as much or as little as you’d like.
Since we use LES MILLS On Demand, we stream other workouts through the week. My favorite is a kickboxing workout, BODYCOMBAT, and my mom loves the strength training in BODYPUMP.
Here’s a LES MILLS on Demand sample calendar we created using the workouts on the app.
